Why stop by
The fair is one of the best chances all year to talk face to face with the people who handle emergencies in Franklin County. EMA staff can tell you how the county prepares for storms, floods and long power outages, and what you can do to get your own household ready.
If you are curious about amateur radio — or already licensed and wondering what ARES does — come by on Thursday evening and talk to us. When phones and the internet go down, licensed volunteers keep messages moving between the Emergency Operations Center, shelters and the field. We are glad to explain how that works, how to get a license, and how to get involved.
Can't make it Thursday?
Members will drop by at other times during the week, but the Thursday session is the one you can plan on. You can also listen in on our nets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, see the Join page, or contact us.
This page describes Franklin County ARES's presence at the fair. It is not the official fair website — for admission, hours, parking and the schedule of events, see farmingtonfair.org.
